3-2-10~ Remember to check out the Iditarod Teachers section. There are many free videos and educational ideas! IDEA has purchased the Iditarod Insider Education materials and the GPS Tracker! Passwords are in the member section of the IDEA website!
3-3-10 ~You'll be on the trail (the reading trail) and we'd like to hear stories from your race! Check out some cool graphic organizers by clicking on Houghton Mifflin and Scholastic website information. We hope the organizers will help you in your reporting!
3-4-10 ~ Galena City School District provides the Iditarod Insider to families. Check the member section of the IDEA website for the passwords. Remember to honor our agreement and only share the passwords with other IDEA families!

3-8-10 ~ Don't know much about the Iditarod? Go to www.iditarod.com; Click on Insider and use the password (sent recently to your IDEA email)! Look for the blue box on the left. Click Educational Materials; then, view Images from the Iditarod Trail, Part 1 !

3-14-10 ~ K-12 Lesson Plans for teaching the Iditarod! (from Education World)
3-15-10 ~ What is carried in those dog sleds? (from Ultimate Iditarod)
3-16-10 ~ Animal Facts - Science for Grades 3-6 This is a lesson that helps your family to discover what makes a good sled dog. Do the research and compare breeds! Look for a link that says download the 2008 Iditarod Curriculum Challenge Lessons. You just need pages 2-8; however, you can download any or all 118 pages if you like!
3-19-10 ~ Sing a song about the Iditarod! If you are using any of Cathy Walter's Lesson plans, you know she likes to teach through singing! Check out the following songs!
