Schedule of events, floor-plans, workshop
schedule, and maps:
- Fairbanks
- Anchorage
- Soldotna
- Juneau |
There are some details below and links to
the left to help you as you prepare to attend the Fair!
-
Over 70 curricular vendors, both
local and from out of state, will be participating, with many sharing their
knowledge and experience in workshops as well. While some will be
demonstrating the advantageous use of their products or services (and what
better way to learn about the materials!), some of these vendors will be
presenting lessons or workshops that extend far beyond the use of the
materials that they are exhibiting at the Fair. These workshops are
guaranteed to encourage, inform, and motivate you! If homeschooling is
something new to you, they will certainly increase your knowledge of the
homeschool experience as well. Those with high school students will
benefit from the panel discussion by high school distance education
providers.
-
Keynote speaker - Setting the tone for the event will be
Joyce Herzog, popular homeschool speaker and author of curricular
materials including "The Scaredy-Cat Reading System." Joyce is
enthusiastic and entertaining,
and you will find her to be an inspiration and a comfort as you look ahead
to future in your homeschooling endeavors! She will also have a table in the Exhibit
Hall and looks forward to visiting with parents one-on-one when she is not
speaking. Thank you to Rainbow Resource Center for partnering with us
financially to bring her to Alaska!
-
Entrance Fee - The exhibits and
workshops are provided at no charge to IDEA families. Non-IDEA
families are welcome and may purchase at the Fair. There is a single
entrance fee to both the Exhibit Hall and the Workshops for non-IDEA
families of $20/person,
with spouses attending for free. For those locations that have a two-day event, the
second day is free for those non-IDEA families who return the second day
with their nametag in hand to show that they already paid the entrance fee.
-
Keynote Fee - There is a small
separate fee for anyone attending the Keynote meal (breakfast or brunch),
whether they are in IDEA or not; click on the name of your location on the
top left for more information.
-
Purchases - Returning IDEA
families who have re-enrolled for the 2005-2006 school year may use their
allotment to pre-purchase at the Fair. Others must use cash, checks,
or credit cards, depending on vendors' preferences.
-
Hand-outs - There will be a
limited number of booklets available at the door with floor-plans and
information about the workshops and Fair Specials offered by the exhibitors.
We will also be handing you sacks with catalogs and flyers from vendors that
could not come in person, but wanted to participate.
-
Children - While you are welcome
to bring your children, there will be no special program for them.
Please keep in mind that all children under 12 must be accompanied by an
adult at all times.
